Summer 2016 could mark the return of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and possibly even Lady Gaga, according to circulating rumors. It’s been some time since the world has heard new albums for all three, which makes their possible impending arrival all the more exciting.

RCA Records Executive Vice President/GM Joe Riccitelli spoke about Britney’s rumored new single “Make Me (Oooh), saying, “I’ve played this track for a lot of people over the last couple of months and the response has been everything I’ve been hoping for and more, so I’m really excited about that. That’ll be a single sometime this summer” (via PopCrush). The single was originally slated for May, but Riccitelli’s new time table could coincide with an album release.
He also said about that new album, “She’s found a really great groove, and she’s working with some new, young producers. We have an A&R person working on the project that’s just really been able to thread the needle, and I’m really excited about it…we’re waiting for her to finish the album.”
Christina, meanwhile, shared that once she wrapped things up on The Voice, she would be heading into the studio. “Right after I leave my coaching duties I will go back into my artistic self and really unleash what I’ve been dying to for so long,” she said (via Idolator). She wouldn’t share much more about the project, however.
Earlier this year, Lady Gaga told reporters backstage at The Golden Globes, “You know, I am putting out an album this year. I won’t tell you when” (via Billboard). In October 2015, she said she wouldn’t focus on new music until she was finished with her role on American Horror Story.
Katy Perry, on the other hand, said she’s in the “research and development phase” of her new album. In the past, her albums have followed a three year cycle, but she admitted feeling restricted by that kind of expectation and so wanted to allow herself more freedom this time round.
Although none of the pop stars have released hard and fast dates where their new music is concerned, the music world can expect big things from all four. It’s just a matter of when.
