With Mark Ronson sharing photos of Lady Gaga in the studio, rumors abounded that LG5 was officially on its way. But then Gaga seemed so busy between a new starring role in the Bradley Cooper-directed film A Star is Born and her upcoming second collaborative album with Tony Bennett that it didn’t seem likely she’d release new music anytime soon.

Gaga loves a surprise and she sure dropped one today (August 17). Using 12 brightly colored posts to create a single message, she shared on Instagram that her new single “Perfect Illusion” will arrive this September. She also tweeted the information. Beyond sharing the announcement itself, Gaga didn’t say much else about the single.
In May, producer Ronson posted a photo of Gaga and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker in the studio together. He captioned the image “Illusion,” which, given Gaga’s latest announcement, now makes a lot more sense. A Ronson-Tame Impala-Gaga track? It’s sure to be killer.
If Gaga plans on sharing new music in September, does that mean a new album is also imminent? We certainly hope so.
